On April 26, 2003, a new exhibit, entitled “Planting a Legacy: Farming in Orange County” opened in the Hall of Agriculture. Designed by six Museum Exhibit Design students at Mary Washington College under the direction of Professor John Pearce, the exhibit tells the story of farming and related industries in this area and explores the importance of farming and rural life to the culture of this region. This project was a major joint undertaking of both the museum and its partners from the Department of Historic Preservation of Mary Washington College. In addition to the active involvement of Professor Pearce and his six students who developed and created the exhibit in about twelve weeks time, many other individuals and organizations were involved. Without the contributions of all of these, this exhibit would not have been possible and we wish to thank each and every one:
